The Pan African Writers Association ( PAWA) has been invited by one of Africa’s most formidable Pan African organizations, INSPIRE AFRICA CONNECT to attend the forthcoming 2026 FESTAC AFRICA festival in Dakar, Senegal.

The decision was taken after a recent meeting between the Secretary General of PAWA, Dr Wale Okediran and the Chairman of FESTAC AFRICA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL, Engineer Yinka Abioye.

It is on record that the World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture, an extraordinary cultural gathering that brought together artists, intellectuals, scholars and cultural practitioners from across Africa and the African diaspora was first held in Senegal in 1966 before the second edition in Nigeria in 1977.

Since it’s rebirth in 2022, the festival has traveled to Tanzania, Kenya and Ghana.

The theme of the Senegal event which has been slated for October 2026 is: ” Uniting Africa Through Culture, Creativity And Collaboration For Sustainable Growth.

According to the organizers, the theme embodies the festival’s commitment to fostering unity across the African continent and it’s diaspora.

It is hoped that the festival will demonstrate how the three pillars of cultural innovation, sustainable growth and strategic collaboration work together to create opportunities, drive economic development and celebrate the richness of African identity.
