Film Africa Network (FAN) an initiative of the Pan African Writers Association ( PAWA) in partnership with Driving Park Limited will this week launch six films for distribution and exhibition across 21 African countries and territories between October and December 2026.
Sponsored in parts by grants from the Open Society Foundations and Africa No Filter, FAN aims to address one of the persistent challenges facing African cinema: the difficulty filmmakers encounter in reaching audiences beyond their own national borders.
Under the campaign: Africa Watches Together, FAN will bring African films to cinemas, universities and cultural centers, creating opportunities for audiences to discover stories from other parts of the continent.
The inaugural program includes six films:
1. My Father’s Shadow
2. Seeking a Haven for Mr Rambo
3. Afrotopia
4. Mvera
5. The Fact of Dreads
6. Comrade Tambo’s London Recruits
By connecting local cultural organizations, universities, filmmakers and audiences, FAN hopes to develop an enduring network capable of supporting the circulation of African films across national and linguistic boundaries.
