On 19 July 2026, the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA), through its Committee on Young African Writers, convened young poets from across the African continent for a stimulating workshop dedicated to the development of poetic craft, literary imagination, and contemporary African expression.
The workshop brought together distinguished poets, writers, and literary practitioners who engaged participants through masterclasses on Symbolism, Africanisation, Juxtaposition, Metaphor, Rhythm, Africanity, Material Imagination, Imagery, and other essential dimensions of poetic practice.
The gathering reflects PAWAβs continued commitment to nurturing emerging African literary voices, fostering continental exchange, and investing in the next generation of African writers.
We invite you to watch the full workshop and experience the ideas, conversations, and creative insights shared throughout this important gathering.
