Founded in 1989 in Accra, Ghana, PAWA serves as the umbrella body for national writers associations of all 54 African nations, promoting freedom of expression, literacy, and cultural exchange. We strive to uplift and support authors through a range of initiatives and programs.

The organization was born out of a passion for African storytelling, recognizing the need for a collective voice that represents the rich tapestry of African experiences and narratives.

We have served a diverse array of clients including emerging writers, established authors, educational institutions, and cultural organizations, all of whom share a commitment to enriching African literature.
